After learning how to secure sponsors, I wanted to help event organizers get funding for their events. So, I decided to put my knowledge into the book How to Secure Sponsors Successfully. Despite a few grammatical errors, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and the impact of the book remains strong.
I created services to help anyone who asked for assistance in securing sponsors, but I didn’t feel the same excitement from clients that I had seen from those I taught. I realized that spreading myself too thin by taking on too many responsibilities was overshadowing my passion and impact.
Making the decision to focus on one area wasn’t easy—my business coach can attest to that. But I know that to continue making a meaningful impact and help communities thrive, I have to zoom in. From providing students with tools to raise their confidence and perform better in schools to organizing fashion shows that showcase rich cultures, I found joy and the biggest reward in teaching and working with planners whose events create social impact.

Here is one of my favorite moments of sharing my knowledge and how a young person grasped the concept. Jemiah and his mother were visiting the United States from Guyana. I was editing the third edition of my book How To Secure Sponsors Successfully and had asked him to review it and share his thoughts. We decided to go live.
